1. VidRes is an easy to use utility that allows you to change most display settings interactively, or via shortcuts.
2. VidRes is often used to change the display settings for specific programs. For example, if you have your computer set to take advantage of the high resolution of your display, but prefer to run a game at a lower resolution, you can use VidRes to create a shortcut that will run the game program and switch to the lower resolution. When you close the game, or switch back to your main desktop, VidRes will restore the display settings to their original values.
3. VidRes can change most display settings, including the resolution, colour depth, primary display in a multi-monitor desktop, and the current display in an independent multi-display system.
4. VidRes can switch resolution, execute another application and automatically switch back to the original resolution when the application terminates or only change the resolution when the application’s window is the maximized foreground window.
5. Multi-monitor desktop and independent multi-display are supported.
6. A limited set of video options are supported, including the aspect ratio, scan mode and refresh rate.
7. You need to specify your video card and monitor settings to VidRes.
8. VidRes can be used in a Command Prompt (cmd.exe) window or from a batch file.
9. VidRes cannot automatically detect the correct video settings for multi-display systems.
10. The full features of VidRes require a commercial version of VidRes.
11. There are some known bugs. Some workarounds are available, which can be found at the VidRes forum.

Electric Field in Two Dimensions is a Java-based simulation application that allows you to explore the concept of the electric field, in a two-dimensional situation. You can turn on 1 to 5 charged particles, and move a test charge around the plane near these charged particles to sample the electric field, produced by the charged particles, at various points.
You can also turn on a grid of field vectors, which show the direction and, qualitatively, the magnitude of the field at a grid of equally spaced points in the plane in which the charged particles are located.
The program is intended to be used as an educational tool to introduce and understand the concept of the electric field. It is designed to be straightforward and easy to use.
The program does not present quantitative results or numeric values of the electric field. It does present qualitative results and numeric values of the potentials which result from the application of the electric field.

The latest program version is available from my web site. In this version, the program allows you to turn on up to 20 charged particles. The program also provides a grid of field vectors.
